STIL's model

STILs goal is for you to be in control of your life. Your personal assistance needs to make it possible for you to live your life the way you want to live it.

  • You decide who your personal assistants are.
  • You decide when they work.
  • You decide what they assist you with and when it will be done.

We call it self-determination. Self-determination is about you getting to be yourself and live your life based on your wishes and pre-conditions. In STIL, you are the supervisor for your personal assistants. You are not a user of STIL’s personal assistance, or a customer in an assistance corporation. You are the protagonist in your life. In STIL you are also the protagonist in your personal assistance.

STIL has supervisors who live in different places around the country. They are of different ages, have different needs and living conditions. You don’t need to know everything to become a supervisor in STIL. There are supervisors who need a lot of support to receive good assistance, and there are supervisors who need less support. You can have a co-supervisor if you need one. It is a person close to you whom you trust. It is STIL’s responsibility to make sure you get the support you need.

All supervisors have a supervisor-partner who works at STIL’s office. Together with your supervisor-partner you decide what your assistance will look like. The staff at STIL’s office are there for you. They will give you the information you need. They will support you in designing your assistance the way that suits you. The office makes sure you can and will have as much power as possible.
